Winter Reverence

Feburary 13 2019

Baby, it’s cold outside! And it’s time for winter coats, boots, hats and winter recipes! During this time of the year, we stay bundled up by the fireplace and hope to weather the possible winter storms brewing. This is a great time for soups, comfort foods and new recipes. These winter recipes will warm the body as well as the soul. Our recipes for this winter season will keep your family wanting more. The cold winter temperatures will have you giving reverence to the comfort foods served on your dinner table during these cold months. As we give thanks for the comfort foods, the soups and the tasty recipes that warm us, let us reflect on the reverence of Christ. The bible says; Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe; Hebrews 12:28. So in the presence of God, let us show gratitude during this season and give to the less fortunate as well as spread the joy of the Lord. Although it’s cold, warmth will come through these recipes to share with family, friends or to someone who needs a warm meal. I am so thankful and grateful to share and pay forward as Jesus Christ has already done for us. During this cold winter season, cook a meal, share a meal and show reverence to the body of Jesus Christ. For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps. 1 Peter 2:21

Holiday Fellowship with Family

December 3 2018

It’s autumn and I am so excited because this is my favorite time of the year. I simply love the cool, autumn breeze in the air along with the pumpkin spice and the holidays that will follow. It’s time to bring out the boots, the sweaters and the warm coats. It’s time for hearty soups, chili and chowders and warm baked cookies as well as good ol’ Thanksgiving fixins and Christmas traditions. We have so many tasty, delectable recipes for this season that you will just love and make a part of your family tradition. This is the time to get with your loved ones and close friends. And yes, “Big Mama” just might get in the kitchen and fix your favorite dish. I love to cook all season but I really like to bring new traditions to the table and surprise my family every year with something different. This is also the time to give to the less fortunate and show love as God unconditionally shows love for us. He blesses us abundantly through His mercy and grace, so make this year a year to give back to someone and bless them with kindness, giving and God’s unconditional love. The bible says; In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. – 1Thessalonians 5:8, so let’s give thanks unto the Lord Jesus Christ our Savior for family, faith and friends and let’s get ready to enjoy time with everyone during this joyous season. Look in our recipe section for holiday recipes and more! Happy Holidays and Happy Cooking! “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7.

Back To School

A Message From Nicey

As we enter the final weeks of summer break, it’s time to make sure both teachers and students are ready for the long hall for the upcoming year. We all have enjoyed the summer break but it’s time to focus and get the kids back on track. Each school year, we grow older and wiser. It’s like a staircase, with each passing year, you step up to the next level. Proverbs 2:6 states “For the Lord gives wisdom from His mouth come knowledge and understanding”. So let’s keep our minds on Christ, pray over our family, motivate our children and get in that kitchen and cook! I am so excited to share “Back to school” recipes for your family. This is a great time for meal preparation for the week and after school snacks for your family. I am constantly on the go and popping a meal in the oven after work or a meal in the slow cooker always saves the day. Prepping snacks for your hungry bunch saves time after school, after practice and gives them a snack to eat until dinner is done. On our recipe page, there will be several recipes for quick prep dinners, slow cooker dinners and snacks for your family and meals on the go. Seems like there is never enough time in the day to get everything done, but at least we can simplify dinner and keep the kids from raiding the fridge. After that great Sunday dinner, start prepping your weekly dinners and snacks for the week. You will be so glad you prepped. You will have more time for the family and will be off your feet before the sun sets. Happy prepping and happy cooking!

Sunday Best

June 30 2018

Sunday is a day for worship, family and food. After a spirit-filled worship service, the family is ready to eat. Grandma’s house is not an option because grandma says it’s too hot to cook in her kitchen and the hospitality ministry at the church will not be cooking today in the fellowship hall. So grab your pots and pans and find that apron. We gotta cook! Since we will be in the kitchen, let’s cook our Sunday’s Best, chile, I mean let’s throw a feast! Let’s cook some Sunday traditional favorites. Favorites that make your husband happy and blessed that you married him…….Later, he will be full as a tick! LOL. Let’s fry the crispiest fried chicken with mac ‘n’ cheese, maple sweet potatoes and more. Make a fresh pitcher of sweet peach tea to complete the meal. Let’s not forget the dessert. Let’s make a scrumptious, moist, homemade cream cheese pound cake. You already know that once the word is out that you are cooking Sunday dinner (you know how quickly that will spread in the family), Uncle Willie will drop by the house unexpectedly, so let’s get started! All the recipes in this post can be found on our recipe page and they are Sunday-best-approved! Happy Sunday and happy cooking!

It’s finally summertime and this is the perfect time for fresh fruit, grilling and pitchers of homemade lemonade. Since the kids are out for summer break, this gives me so many ideas for quick family meals. Family time is so important and you can get the entire family involved while cooking great food and enjoying the weather. I like to grill vegetables and seafood because these foods are not only light in calories but it is so simple to prep and the cook time is short. It doesn’t give you that heavy feeling and you still have room for dessert and games with the family.

This is also a great time for church gatherings and getting to know new members within your congregation, so get with your church committee and pastor and plan a fellowship gathering this summer and bring your best dish. I will be posting amazing, summer dishes that will bring a “Lawd Have Mercy” out the crowd and a good feeling deep down in your soul. So bring your church fans and your “to-go” trays so you can take a couple of plates home. (“Deacon Jones” gotta have something to eat later in the evening and “Sister Smith” needs a plate for lunch tomorrow at work.)

Psalm 107:9 states: “For He has satisfied the thirsty soul, and the hungry soul He has filled with what is good.” So let’s feed the soul with what is good! Share the recipes below with your family, friends and congregation. Let’s eat, fellowship and ENJOY THE SUMMER!!
